Archive for the Miscellaneous CategoryAccording to my hosting company, there may be some outages on both my website and this blog today. I’m sorry for any inconvenience! -Andrew I will be out of town this week in Las Vegas. I won’t be able to schedule any consultations until I return. I will still be answering emails etc while away, but it may take longer than usual to get a response. Thanks! -Andrew A while back I was contacted by the Aunt of a bride getting married at St. Hyacinth Basilica. As a gift to the bride and groom, Karen was going to paint a watercolor picture of the church. She was having problems finding a good enough resolution photo of the outside of the Basilica that would help her visualize it for her painting. Karen had seen a bunch of posts on my blog - as I’ve shot at the Basilica numerous times. Even though I wasn’t the photographer for her niece’s wedding - I sent her a bunch of high resolution images for her to use in her painting. I received an email with a scan of the finished painting and it’s just awesome! Painting by Kathy Molisky - contact her at appleptg@comcast.net
If you’ve been watching Entertainment news over the past week, you know that Eva Longoria and Tony Parker were married in Paris on 7/7/07. What’s really cool is that the official photographer for the wedding is someone I know! Bob Davis of la Storia foto was contracted by Eva and Tony to photograph the wedding! Bob actually was my “photo coach” a few years ago when I did some photography work for his other company… Bob has had a long career in photojournalism, working as an award winning photographer at the Chicago Sun-Times before moving to wedding photojournalism. He’s also done work for Oprah! I just think this is so cool! Congratulations Bob & Dawn on the awesome shoot, and best of luck in the future! -Andrew
I finally got around to updating the look and feel of the Blog! Hopefully you’ll like it. I like it because I will have a little more room in the middle of the page to display larger images. Stay tuned for new posts to see the new layout! -Andrew

Planning your wedding photography…Posted by: Andrew in Weddings, Miscellaneous, ThoughtsPlanning for your wedding photography is always something that you should think about sooner rather than later. Recently I’ve had a bunch of brides contact me about dates that are only 3-5 months out from now. Unfortunately I’m pretty much booked up for 2007. I still have some dates open for later in the year, but popular dates have long been booked. I do have a real time availability checker on my main website that you can use to check availability for your date - or you can click here -> Availability Checker Whether or not you are thinking about booking my services or another photographer, it’s much better to start looking sooner if you want to book who you really want! -Andrew Hey all you 2006 John Andrews Brides! I’m currently preparing submissions for a few magazine articles featuring 2006 weddings that I shot. If you are interested in having your wedding submitted, please contact me as soon as you can with all of the vendor details and your “Wedding Story”! Once I have the information, I will select my favorite photos from your wedding and prepare the submissions. You can send the info to andrew@johnandrewsphotography.com -Andrew So I was watching Oprah the other day… Well, my wife was watching (and forced me to also watch) the show. Oprah was interviewing a panel of folks including the author of the new book / movie called ‘The Secret’. If you haven’t heard about it, it’s almost like a documentary type of thing that you’d see on the Discovery or Science channel. It also has a kind of Da Vinci codesque feel to the whole thing which pulls you in and makes you at least interested in what they are saying. The gist of ‘The Secret’ is an explanation of the Laws of Attraction and how they may play an important role in what type of life experience that you live. Instead of me actually trying to explain it, you can watch the whole Oprah show on YouTube, or head on over to TheSecret.tv for more information. -Andrew It’s always an exciting time for me in January. The holidays are over and I generally start itching to start photographing again. Usually by the time December rolls around I have shot, processed, and delivered somewhere in the neighborhood of 50,000+ photographs… That’s a lot of photographs no matter how you look at it! It’s always funny around Christmas because I end up shooting all of my family photographs with my Canon point and shoot! As a photographer; family and friends are always expecting me to show up with my huge camera outfit parties and get togethers! It’s always funny when I show up and pull out my little P&S. However, right now I’m gearing up to start doing a bunch of engagement sessions and a few weddings to kick the year off. I have a pretty full schedule already, so anybody that’s reading this and is hoping to book my services, please do contact me soon! Your date may not be available if you wait! Here’s to a fun and awesome 2007! For all the brides and grooms that I will be working with this year - I can’t wait. -Andrew
I just want to take a moment to wish everyone a very happy holiday season! Happy Holidays & God Bless! -Andrew |
