Congratulations Matt & Carrie!

I actually was holding off a bit on publishing these Matt & Carrie’s photos on the blog because of the pending feature in CS Brides.  Now that it’s out, I am posting these up here!  Carrie’s wedding was the 2nd out of the 3 weddings I’ve shot in her family over the past year and a half.  I also shot her sister Sally’s wedding last year, and Cindy’s wedding this past fall!  I’ll be posting Cindy’s wedding on the blog pretty soon as well.

Known as the “Pink Truck” wedding (a mashup of last names) it was a gorgeous event that I feel honored to have taken a part in.  The ceremony and reception were held at the Chicago History Museum.  We were able to capture some great Relaxed Portraits in the gardens around the museum as well as on the patio and amazing staircase…

Do check out their feature in CS Brides!  Also, Matt & Carrie were featured on WCIU’s Engagement Stories segment last year.  That’s great to take a look at too!

Congratulations Jonathan & Sarah!

Jonathan & Sarah were married back in August.  Their wedding was one of the more lively weddings that I’ve shot this year!  The reception was full of fun and dancing excitement!  If you haven’t seen their Engagement Session photos, do check those out.  I think they were the most creative couple that I had ever worked with when it came to planning out a fun session!

The ceremony was held at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago followed by a reception at The Congress Plaza hotel.  Here are a few words from Jonathan about how they met and their plans for the wedding.

We met in graduate school at Columbia College Chicago in the fall of 2005 while we were both working toward our Masters in Arts Management and have been together for 6 years.
After 5 years together, Jonathan proposed to Sarah on Saturday, June 11, 2011. They went out for an amazing dinner at Cite, a 350 degree restaurant on top of LakePoint Towers in Chicago. Following dinner, Jonathan pulled over on Lakeshore Drive in front of the Chicago River (Sarah’s absolute favorite view of the city) and popped the question. Sarah was in complete shock and Jonathan was nervous she was going to faint. Sarah managed to compose herself and said “yes!” The evening was followed by many phone calls, text messages and champagne.

The biggest priority for our wedding days is that our guests have a raging good time. That is why we hired a Mariachi band for cocktail hour (to also honor my mother’s side of the family. We thought this would be the perfect way to get the party going. We hired a live band for the dancing because having that live performance aspect was very important. To us, it feels so much more authentic than a DJ.

Congratulations David & Farida!

It’s that time of year again.  The time of year that I try to get caught up with all the blog posts that I should have been posting during the wedding season, but just didn’t have any time because I was so crazy busy!

David & Farida’s wedding was quite the adventure.  They got married in Dayton Ohio and for me it was a mini destination wedding.  I loaded up the car and picked up Thomas Pham (my second shooter) and we made a Friday-Sunday trip out of it.  It was a hectic few days of shooting with the rehearsal dinner on Friday night and the wedding all day Saturday.  We crashed and got up Sunday morning to drive back to Chicago.  It was a long 3 days but an amazing wedding!

I met David & Farida through another couple that I photographed a few years ago (David & Chrissy).  I always love getting personal referrals – makes my job a heck of a lot easier!

The ceremony was held at St. Mina & St. Abanoub Coptic Orthodox Church in Miamisburg, OH followed by a breathtaking reception at the Benjamin & Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center in Dayton.  In between we stopped for some great photos on the steps of the Dayton Art Institute.

Here are a few words from Farida about how she and David met…

It all started 15 years ago…..

Both Farida and David are Egyptian Coptic Christian. Every year there is a week long camp in Bowling Green Ohio where all the churches and its’ youth come for a week full of fellowship and fun. Prior to camp, Farida’s cousin introduced Farida and David to one another on AOL instant messaging at the young age of 12. The two ‘chatted’ for about a week in anticipation of meeting one another at camp. According to David, the first time he saw Farida he told his friends that he “was going to marry that girl”.  Farida on the other hand thought this skinny boy didn’t match up to his masculine screen name. In the end, Farida and David left camp every year for the next five years with butterflies in their stomachs for one another. As time would tell, the two began dating in 2009 and the rest is history.

Here are a few of my favorite photos as well as a slideshow from the day!

Oliver & Mallory E-Session

I spent some time shooting around the Lincoln Park area with Oliver and Mallory back at the end of September.  We had a lot of fun shooting and chatting.  I’m lucky to have such great couples to work with and am definitely looking forward to 2013.!
